What is orthodontics?

After starting treatment, you should see your doctor every 6-10 weeks to check the condition of your teeth and adjust braces or other treatment if necessary. The entire treatment period can be from several months to several years. This is very individual and depends on the existing problems and the age of the person. The average duration of orthodontic treatment is about 2 years.

The first preventive visit to the orthodontist should be done when the child is 7-8 years old. It is very possible that the orthodontist in Vilnius, in our clinic, will not recommend any treatment and it will only be a preventive visit. However, it is also possible that a specialist will notice potential problems (possible tooth crowding, gaps between teeth) in time and recommend treatment.

Orthodontic treatment is recommended when the patient is 10-16 years old. At this time, the baby teeth have already been replaced by permanent ones, and the teenager is still growing. Such early treatment helps prevent various problems in the future and allows you to enter the adult world with a healthy and beautiful smile.

Although orthodontic treatment is fastest and most effective in adolescence, if you did not have the opportunity to visit a specialist at that time, you can choose treatment even in adulthood.
